简 介
故事发生在二十世纪初的墨西哥革射中。一辆远程马车里，崇高的师长密斯们对一位沉默寡言的农民大放厥词，但是忽然农民摇身一变，显落发庭式匪帮头子胡安（Rod Steiger 饰）的真脸孔。胡安掠夺后路遇爱尔兰反动军爆破专家约翰（James Coburn 饰），后者的爆破才能令抢劫梅萨维德银行如十拿九稳，因而胡安苦苦尾随，不经意间却卷入了配合维拉反动军的梅萨维德暴乱。胡安若愿与约翰同伴洗劫银行，但他一切的收获却是束缚150名政治监犯。
政府军上校刚特率军弹压反动，胡安与反动队伍支出了惨重的价格。在逆境中，约翰与胡顺发生了实在的反动友谊，二人在前往美国的路上折返阻击刚特上校，当约翰中弹之时，这位老战士看到了昔日在爱尔兰的温馨场景……本片获1972年意大利大卫奖最好导演奖。
