简 介
张婉婷“移民三部曲”之一，时候布景为中国大陆鼎新开放早期。
山公（洪金宝）文革时代一声不吭离别故乡汕头台山偷渡赴美，立誓再也不回中国。16年来，他凭着中国人独有的小聪明和刻苦刻苦兢兢业业地做着的士司机，可是攒下的积储却是有限，不外身材却是发福很多。熬不住思乡之苦下决心回籍时，他向伙伴借下八两金（金腕表、金项链），又买大巨细小物件多少好“背井离乡”。归家途中遭受小挫折，他借录“遗声”表达对怙恃、小妹的惭愧。
抵家山公发现怙恃陪小妹去了乡下偷生政策不准的第二胎，在今成妹夫的儿时玩伴的伴随下，他见到童年时的拌嘴表妹乌嘴婆（张艾嘉），后者像当时的很多广东人一样想去香港或美国，不外比他们荣幸的是，她已拿到赴美的“签证”——未来的husband在纽约唐人街开有一家餐馆，来年春季会接她赴美，未几山公与携弟弟的乌嘴婆一路回到乡下。与怙恃、小妹话过相思之苦，山公像很多多年不曾归乡的归乡客一样，被中国独有的圆滑人情害得哑吧吃黄连。
山公与乌嘴婆相处早期，讲话不忘夹带半生不熟的英文单词的乌嘴婆沉醉在对美国生活的浪漫空想中，山公不时泼去冷水，随着打仗的深入，两人渐渐生出恋爱，乌嘴婆渐渐不再提她的美国梦，但她的未来之路早已铺好，而山公也在怙恃的放置下起头了相亲之旅。
