在同业眼里，唐迪（杰里米·皮文 Jeremy Piven 饰）无疑是救世主一样的存在，在他那三寸不烂之舌的攻势下，没有卖不进来的工具，没有做不成的买卖。所以，当某家二手汽车销售部行将开张之际，唐迪成为了整理这个烂摊子的最好人选。
在得力助手吉比（文·瑞姆斯 Ving Rhames 饰）和巴碧思（凯瑟琳·哈恩 Kathryn Hahn 饰）的帮助下，唐迪的团队又一次的化腐败为奇异，他的到来甚至改变了全部暮气沉沉的小镇。但是，一个女人的到来让唐迪方寸大乱，他没法压服她买下任何工具，同时也没法抑制自己砰砰作响的心脏。在恋爱里，唐迪发现自己把握的一切技术居然毫无用武之地，相反的，惟有卸下一切伪装，才能收获求之不得的恋爱。
