影片报告了发生在古巴三个分歧历史期间的三个自力故事，别离是在古巴自力战争期间、二十世纪三十年月格拉多·马查多统治期间，及二十世纪六十年月的古巴。故事的配角都叫露西亚，三个露西亚所处的社会阶级别离与殖民主义、新殖民主义和社会主义反动相对应。第一个故事布景设备在1895 年，那时古巴的民族主义者正在于西班牙殖民者抗争，露西亚是一个贵族，她爱上了一个自称无任何政治主张的陌生人，并与他私奔。成果这个汉子只是想操纵她找到民族主义者们的奥秘基地，在逃窜时抛弃了她，终极露西亚杀死了这个亏心汉。第二个露西亚是一其中产阶级家庭的女儿，她随着一个年轻的反动者奥尔多，逃离了沉醉在凯纳斯特纸牌游戏天下的怙恃。最初一个露西亚是一个刚刚嫁给一个粗人的出色实地观察员。这三个历史期间前后跨越了整整七十年，影片以每个露西亚在分歧期间的分歧遭受来表示古巴女性对社会现实的深思与追求美好生活的尽力，三个女仆人公都生活在男权社会中，但她们所处的阶级和终极的命运却各不不异，经过她们的眼睛，可以感遭到她们心里的旁皇挣扎与一个民族繁重的历史。
