简 介
一次偶然中，西德尼（菲利浦·贝克·霍尔 Philip Baker Hall 饰）碰见了名为约翰（约翰·C·赖利 John C. Reilly 饰）的男人，他将贫困失意的约翰带到了赌场当中，教会了他赌术，希望约翰可以借此否极泰来。在赌场，西德尼碰见了违反了赌场规定和客人停止精神买卖的女招待克莱门汀（格温妮丝·帕特洛 Gwyneth Paltrow 饰），哪晓得克莱门汀和约翰一碰头就坠入了情网，顿时决议携手步入婚姻的殿堂。
西德尼的朋友吉米（塞缪尔·杰克逊 Samuel L. Jackson 饰）找到了西德尼，他的手中握着一个属于西德尼的奥秘。现在，吉米以这个奥秘为筹码想要威胁和勒索西德尼，不意却惹上了杀身之祸。
