◎简 介
播州赤穗藩（在京都以西不远）的大名（领主）浅野内匠头长矩，在他轮值江户城的招待官役的时候，一次在迎接天皇使节的仪式之前，在幕府中央驻地江户城内松之廊下，与一名老年权臣吉良上野义央发生冲突。其原因至今未能究明。浅野在盛怒之下，拔刀伤了吉良。这就是严重违纪的“江户城刃伤事件”。
此事震怒了当时将军德川纲吉。他不容宽恕，命令浅野即日切腹、并罚浅野家从兹“断绝”。这就是说：赤穗藩的名号封地一律撤销、赤穗城向幕府开门缴城、大名浅野家削为布衣。作为藩士的三百余名赤穗武士，随之失去俸禄和地位，沦为“浪人”。
浅野欲辩无辞，时不他待，当日便急急剖腹自决了。
消息传到赤穗藩。
震惊的赤穗藩士们，无法接受突兀的祸从天降。随着事实的弄清，抗拒的思路形成了。这一思路，是后日他们决意和行动的注解，也是四十七士事件后来脍炙人口的原因。
他们认为：既然在江户城松之廊下发生的刃伤事...
