　　15岁的赛门住在澳大利亚中部沙漠里的一个自力的小村子中，在这个叫做Warlpiri的小地方，赛门过着日复一日的反复活活，丝毫没有什么新颖的工具。影片就从赛门这千篇一概的生活起头。
　　早上，他被自己哥哥构造的乐队的排演声吵醒，空气里满盈着灰尘和汽油的味道。起来以后的赛门无事可做——在这里他没有朋友、没有工作、没有黉舍、也没有游乐场。天天，赛门的使命就是跟在黛利拉的前面，去和她一路照顾黛利拉的祖母。闲极无聊的时辰，他会向黛利拉丢丢石子，大概是是用记号笔在墙上写 “S4D”。日子就这么一天一六合曩昔，在一切看起来都毫无悬念的时辰，村子中的村民闹起了冲突。
　　由于族人之间的冲突，赛门和黛利拉决议离家出走。出走以后的他们先偷了辆车，汽油用尽以后，他们便起头步行——毫无目标、毫无来由地四周游荡。在出走的进程中，他们渐渐长大，起头渐渐进修照顾对方。这两个十几岁的孩子之间也在渐渐起着恋爱的化学反应。虽然生活照旧贫苦、照旧饥饿、甚至是布满了暴力，可是他们还是像野草一样健康、疯狂的长大。
