◎简　　介

　　大卫·卢里（约翰·马尔科维奇 John Malkovich 饰）在开普敦一所大学持教，但是年过五旬的他却因拐骗并与女门生发生关系而被黉舍惩办。在黉舍构造的听证会上，大卫对校方的控告供认不讳，却没有半丝悔改之意。被迫告退的大卫来到山区小镇女儿露西（杰西卡·海恩斯 Jessica Haines 饰）的农场，却意外遭受入室抢劫以及三个暴徒对女儿实施强奸，大卫因自己的力所不及感应非常自责，可是女儿对这件工作的冷处置态度则让大卫大动怒火，加上女儿对黑人邻人的频频妥协则让他更加不解。大卫感遭到耻辱，他感受自己就像狗一样在世……
　　该片改编自同名诺贝尔文学奖获奖小说，并于2008年获得中东电影节最好影片奖以及多伦多电影节的国际影评人同盟奖。
