　　WCW（World Championship Wrestling 世界冠军摔角联盟），上世纪美国最为著名的摔角团体之一。成立于1988年，总部设在佐治亚州亚特兰大市。早年曾是NWA旗下的加盟组织，1988年11月在Ted Turner的倡导下脱离NWA，成立WCW，Ted Turner担任该联盟总裁直至2001年联盟倒闭。1995年，在一代革新者Eric Bischoff（艾瑞克?毕雪夫）的推动下，WCW从古典、传统的风格向商业化、偶像化转变。在此期间，Eric Bischoff先后从竞争对手WWF（世界摔角联盟，现今的WWE）手中挖来Ric Flair、Hulk Hogan、Kevin Nash、Scott Hall、Bret Hart等一干重量级明星，并培养出蝎子王Sting、Goldberg、Booker T等新一代的王者选手。Eric还最先提出周一直播的理念，每周一固定的品牌节目Nitro吸引观众无数。随后这一理念被WWF总裁Vince McMahon借用，并由此引发了持续经年的周一大战。
　　
　　然而，占据先机的WCW却因经营不善以及理念落后逐渐逊于WWF，在对手强大的攻势下，2001年WCW宣布倒闭，之后连同另一家倒闭联盟ECW被WWF收购，成立了今天的WWE。风光一时的WCW就此烟消云散。
