　　二对母女，罗拉（拉娜·特纳饰）与女儿苏西（胡安妮塔·摩儿饰）之间因母亲专注于奇迹，而与女儿缺少相同，致使两母女同时爱一个汉子的悲剧；她们在海边碰到的另一对黑人母女，黑人母亲安妮（丹·奥赫里奇饰），由于混血女儿始终不愿认可自己是黑人的究竟，而哀痛冲突，可是安妮这个善良的女人始终期待其女儿的回头，只是子欲养而亲不待。
　　本片报告两个具有现代认识的悲剧。本片是一部社会性的写实片，突出了黑人与白人之间的种族轻视与后代教育题目，可以说是一部套路偏中国文戏的文艺片。虽然有煽情的成份，但比一般的家庭片更深入。1934年曾拍过一次。
